Congratulations to Sian Corish and Ryan Williams, who brought back bronze meals and a new Welsh record from the Scottish 50Metre Championships at the Denwood Target Shooting Centre this weekend.
In the Men’s Prone, Ryan scored 619.5 – a Gold Coast MCS (Minimum Consideration Score) – to qualify sixth for the final. Starting strong, he placed fourth after the first five-shot string, rising to silver medal position after the second. Dropping to pairs of shots, Ryan briefly overtook leader Neil Stirton, but was then overtaken by Neil and Tony Lincoln, which remained the running order for the remainder of the match.
In the Women’s Prone, Sian placed third with 617.1, also logging an MCS. There was no final, it never having been an Olympic event.
Sian also placed fourth – with a new Welsh Women’s record – in the Three-Position with 579-21x. This breaks her own record of 575 from the 2008 Scottish 50Metre Championships.
